


Report on the Inaugural Function for the 2026–2028 Batch
The inaugural function to welcome the 2026–2028 batch of students was held at SUM College of Teacher Education, Muzhappala, Mamba, Kannur, on Friday, 17 July 2026, at the SUM General Hall. The programme marked the beginning of a new academic journey for the incoming teacher trainees and was attended by the management, faculty members, and students.
The function commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Balkrishnan P, Staff Secretary. The programme was presided over by Mr. Divakaran P. E., Assistant Professor of Physical Science. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Rosa M. C., Principal of SUM College of Teacher Education.
The chief talk was delivered by Mr. C. Ahamed Kutty Master, Manager of SUM College of Teacher Education. He encouraged the new students to uphold the values of the teaching profession and make the best use of the opportunities provided by the institution.
Felicitations were offered by Dr. Krishnakumar E. P., IQAC Coordinator; Mr. Sunnesh K.; Mr. George Joseph; Ms. Praseetha P.; Ms. Heba; and Mr. Sachin Elias. They extended their best wishes to the newly admitted students and motivated them to pursue academic excellence and professional growth.
In her inaugural address, Dr. Rosa M. C. elaborated on the meaning, purpose, and values of education. She emphasized that education is not merely the acquisition of knowledge but a lifelong process of character formation, social responsibility, and holistic development. She encouraged the students to cultivate compassion, integrity, critical thinking, and a commitment to lifelong learning as they prepare themselves for the noble profession of teaching.
The programme concluded on a positive note, inspiring the new batch to embark on their academic journey with confidence, dedication, and a strong sense of purpose.
