

REPORT ON AI-BASED SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND PRE-INTERNSHIP WORKSHOP ON AI TOOLS

An Interactive AI-Based Skill Development Workshop and Pre-Internship Workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools was successfully conducted at SUMCTE on 24 June 2026 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The workshop aimed to equip student teachers with essential digital competencies and practical knowledge of emerging AI technologies that can enhance teaching, learning, lesson planning, and classroom engagement.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. George Joseph, Assistant Professor, General Education, who welcomed the dignitaries, resource persons, faculty members, and students. He highlighted the importance of integrating Artificial Intelligence into education and emphasized the need for future teachers to become proficient in AI-assisted teaching methodologies.
The session was presided over by Dr. Rose M.C., Principal, SUMCTE, who addressed the gathering and stressed the growing significance of AI in the educational sector. She encouraged students to explore innovative technologies that can support effective teaching practices and lifelong learning.
The workshop was felicitated by Mr. Abdulla Master T.P., who appreciated the initiative undertaken by the institution to familiarize students with contemporary technological advancements. He emphasized that AI literacy has become an essential skill for educators in the modern educational landscape.
The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Abdul Azeez, Director, Top Plus Academy, Kannur, an experienced trainer in digital and AI-based educational technologies. He conducted an engaging and highly interactive session spanning more than four hours. Through demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on activities, he introduced participants to a wide range of AI tools and techniques that can significantly improve teaching and learning practices.
During the workshop, students were given practical exposure to various AI-powered applications. Most activities were conducted using mobile devices, enabling students to directly access and experiment with the tools in real time. The hands-on approach enhanced participation and allowed learners to understand the practical applications of AI in educational settings.
The trainer introduced several innovative AI tools, including:
- ChatGPT for content generation, lesson planning, question preparation, and instructional support.
- Kahoot for creating interactive quizzes and gamified classroom assessments.
- Gamma for generating professional presentations using AI assistance.
- Wooclap for interactive classroom engagement, live polling, and student participation.
- Other AI-powered educational tools that support teaching, learning, assessment, and content creation.
A major highlight of the workshop was the demonstration of AI-assisted lesson planning. Students learned how to generate structured lesson plans, formulate learning outcomes, design classroom activities, and create assessment tasks using AI tools. The resource person also explained effective prompt-writing techniques to obtain accurate and relevant outputs from AI applications.
The session encouraged active interaction between the trainer and participants. Students enthusiastically engaged in discussions, raised queries, and explored the functionalities of various AI platforms. Practical exercises enabled them to apply their newly acquired knowledge immediately and gain confidence in utilizing AI technologies for academic and professional purposes.
The workshop provided valuable insights into the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in education.
