Report on the Interactive Orientation and Motivation Programme
An Interactive Orientation and Motivation Programme was organized jointly by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and SUM College of Teacher Education (SUMCTE), Muzhappala, Mamba, Kannur, on 21 July 2027 at 10.00 a.m. in the SUM College Auditorium. The programme aimed to inspire the student teachers, enhance their professional outlook, and equip them with innovative ideas and practical strategies for effective teaching and learning.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Rosa M. C., Principal of SUM College of Teacher Education. In her address, she emphasized the importance of orientation programmes in shaping the attitudes, confidence, and professional competencies of future teachers. She encouraged the students to make the best use of the opportunity to interact with an experienced educator and motivational speaker.
Mr. C. Ahamed Kutty Master, Manager of SUMCTE, addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the programme. He stressed that teaching is a noble profession requiring creativity, dedication, and continuous self-improvement. He motivated the students to actively participate in the session and apply the knowledge and skills gained in their future classrooms.
The resource person for the programme was Mr. Lithesh Kolayad, HSST in Sociology at Chothavoor Higher Secondary School, Champad, a renowned Psychological Counsellor, Motivational Speaker, and NSS State Award Winner.
During his highly interactive session, Mr. Lithesh Kolayad shared valuable insights into the art of teaching and learning. He introduced a variety of innovative techniques and practical strategies that teachers can adopt to make classrooms more engaging, learner-centred, and effective. He emphasized the importance of communication skills, creativity, confidence, and emotional intelligence in the teaching profession.
The resource person also demonstrated several activity-based teaching methods, including the effective use of drama, mimicry, mime, role play, storytelling, humour, and classroom interaction techniques to capture students’ attention and improve learning outcomes. Through demonstrations and audience participation, he showed how these methods could make classroom instruction more lively, enjoyable, and meaningful.
The programme, which lasted for more than two hours, was lively, informative, and inspiring. The participants actively engaged in discussions and interactive activities, making the session both enjoyable and enriching. The practical ideas and motivational messages shared by the resource person encouraged the student teachers to develop confidence, creativity, and a positive attitude towards the teaching profession.
The orientation programme concluded with enthusiastic participation from the students, who appreciated the resource person for his energetic presentation and valuable guidance. The programme was a memorable and enriching experience that strengthened the students’ motivation and preparedness for their future careers as teachers.
