







Report on College Day Celebration – 23rd March 2026
The College Day celebration of SUM College was held on 23rd March 2026 at the College Auditorium with great enthusiasm and active participation from students, faculty members, and distinguished guests.
The programme began with a warm welcome address by Ms. Heba P., Vice Chairman of the College Union, who greeted the dignitaries and audience and set the tone for the day’s events.
The function was presided over by Mr. Diljith E.P., Chairman of the SUMCTE Union. The keynote address was delivered by the Principal, Dr. C.V. Jayasree, who highlighted the achievements of the institution and appreciated the collective efforts of students and staff in bringing laurels to the college.
The Annual Report of the college was presented by Dr. C.V. Jayasree, giving a comprehensive overview of the academic and extracurricular accomplishments of the institution. The College Union Report was presented by Ms. Aiswariya M.K., Secretary of the SUMCTE Union, outlining the various activities conducted throughout the year.
The chief guest of the day was Mr. Manoj Kalikulam, a noted cinema actor, director, and singer. His presence added charm to the event. On this special occasion, the college magazine titled “Pottatha Kumilakal” was officially released by Mr. Manoj Kalikulam. The first copy of the magazine was received by Mr. C. Ahammed Kutty Master, Manager of SUM College.
Mr. Sajeev Kalikulam addressed the gathering and spoke about different approaches to filmmaking. He also engaged the audience with discussions on various stories and novels in Malayalam literature, making his session both informative and inspiring.
A significant part of the programme was the distribution of awards and recognitions. Trophies were awarded to the SET and TET achievers of the institution in recognition of their academic excellence.
On this occasion, prizes were also distributed to the winners of the Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament conducted by Kannur University at PKM College of Teacher Education. The third prize winners were honored with tokens of appreciation. The volleyball trophies were distributed by Mr. C. Ahammed Kutty Master, Manager of SUMCTE.
Further, trophies were awarded to the winners of the University Fine Arts Festival, Ms. Smrithi Rajeevan and Ms. Indulekha. These awards were presented by the Principal, Dr. C.V. Jayasree, acknowledging their outstanding talents and achievements.
In addition, several certificates related to Fine Arts competitions conducted within the college were distributed during the programme, encouraging student participation in cultural activities.
The felicitation ceremony was conducted by Dr. Krishnakumar E.P. (IQAC Coordinator), Ms. Anusree K., and Mr. Muhammed Ashfaque, who appreciated the achievements of students and the overall progress of the institution.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Muhammed Ashfaque, who expressed sincere gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, organizers, and participants for making the event a grand success.
The College Day celebration was a vibrant and memorable event that showcased the academic excellence, cultural talents, and unity of the institution. It served as a platform to recognize achievements and inspire students for future endeavors.
