As part of the Student Induction Programme, a session on Psychology of Learning was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in association with SUM College of Teacher Education, Mamba, Muzhappala. The session was conducted by Dr. Rosa M. C., Principal, SUM College of Teacher Education.
The programme aimed to familiarize B.Ed. students with the psychological principles that underpin effective teaching and learning. During the session, Dr. Rosa M. C. elaborated on the concept of learning from a psychological perspective and explained the various factors that influence the learning process. She discussed different aspects of educational psychology, emphasizing the importance of understanding learner behaviour, individual differences, and cognitive development in classroom teaching.
A significant part of the session focused on motivation and its role in enhancing learning outcomes. The resource person explained the different types of motivation and highlighted practical strategies that teachers can adopt to motivate learners and create an engaging learning environment.
The session was highly informative and interactive, enabling students to gain valuable insights into the psychological foundations of teaching and learning. The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, where students clarified their doubts and reflected on the practical application of psychological principles in education.
