Report on the Pre-Internship Programme on Action Research

A pre-internship programme on Action Research was conducted on 29 June 2026 at the SUM General Hall. The session was led by Dr. Rose M. C., Principal, SUMCTE, with the objective of familiarizing student teachers with the concept, significance, and methodology of action research.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. George Joseph, who welcomed the resource person and the participants.

During the session, Dr. Rose M. C. explained the need and importance of action research in the professional life of teachers. She emphasized that action research enables teachers to identify classroom challenges, implement suitable interventions, and improve the teaching-learning process through systematic inquiry. She also clarified the doubts raised by the students regarding the purpose and application of action research during their internship and future teaching careers.

Furthermore, Dr. Rose M. C. provided detailed guidance on the writing pattern and structure of an action research report. She explained the various components, including the identification of the problem, objectives, research methodology, data collection, analysis, findings, and conclusions, enabling the students to gain a clear understanding of the process.

The session was highly informative and interactive, equipping the participants with the essential knowledge and confidence required to undertake action research effectively during their internship. The programme concluded with an enriching learning experience for all the participants.
