The International Poetry Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and literary spirit at SUM College of Teacher Education on 16 March 2026. The program aimed to promote the appreciation of poetry and highlight the significance of literature in personal and social development.

The session commenced with an inaugural ceremony led by Dr. Krishnakumar EP, IQAC Coordinator of the college. He officially inaugurated the poetry club and marked the occasion by presenting one of his own poems in a melodious manner, setting an inspiring tone for the event.

Following the inauguration, Ms. Smrithi Sajjevan delivered an insightful speech on literature and its importance in shaping human values and creativity. Her address emphasized the enduring relevance of literary works in modern society.

Adding an interactive element to the program, Srinadha from the English Department conducted a literature quiz, engaging the audience and encouraging participation.

A book review session was presented by Anushka of the English Department, who provided a thoughtful analysis, enriching the literary experience of the attendees.

The celebration also featured poetic performances by Anunad and Ira Mashoor, who recited their own poems, showcasing their creativity and passion for poetry.

An oath-taking ceremony, aimed at fostering a commitment to literary appreciation and creative expression, was conducted under the guidance of Heba Miss, a faculty member of the department.

The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Adarsh, who expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers for making the event a success.
