
The SUM College of Teacher Education solemnly observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse on 26th June 2025 at the college auditorium. The event was organized with the aim of spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a drug-free society.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Mr. Krishnakumar E.P., the IQAC Coordinator. He set the tone for the day by emphasizing the importance of collective action in curbing the menace of drug abuse.
Dr. C.V. Jayasree, the Principal of SUM College, delivered a keynote speech highlighting the severe negative impacts of drugs on individuals, families, and society as a whole. She stressed the need for educational institutions to take proactive roles in sensitizing the youth about the dangers of substance abuse.
A significant moment of the event was the oath-taking ceremony, led by Dr. C.V. Jayasree. All participants pledged to stand against drug abuse and to spread awareness among peers and the community.
In recognition of outstanding achievement, Dr. C.V. Jayasree also handed over the certificate to Ms. Anagha P.K., who had won the inter-collegiate photography contest organized by Govt. Brennen College of Teacher Education, Thalassery. This honor highlighted the talents of the students at SUM College and reinforced the importance of engaging youth in creative and socially responsible activities.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Diljith, who expressed gratitude to all speakers, participants, and organizers for making the event a meaningful and impactful one.
The event was a great success, reinforcing the college’s commitment to shaping socially responsible future educators and raising awareness against drug abuse.
