Report on “Meet the Candidate” Program – Kannur University Election Campaign by SUM CTE

As part of the upcoming Kannur University Union Election, the Students Union Movement (SUM) of College of Teacher Education (CTE) organized a “Meet the Candidate” program aimed at introducing the candidates contesting for key student representative positions and providing them a platform to share their visions.

Date & Venue:

The event took place at the college seminar hall and saw active participation from students, faculty, and election candidates.

Purpose of the Program:

The program was intended to familiarize the student community with the contesting candidates, especially for the posts of University Union Councillor (UUC) and General Captain, while also promoting democratic student participation and encouraging an informed voting process.

Event Proceedings:

The session was hosted by Mr. Divakarn P.E., who welcomed the gathering and guided the flow of the event. He highlighted the importance of student representation and the role of union elections in shaping student welfare and institutional development.

The candidates for the posts of UUC and General Captain were invited to speak. Each of them presented their vision, proposed activities, and their approach toward addressing student needs and enhancing student life within the campus. The speeches emphasized leadership, inclusivity, and a collaborative spirit.

Faculty Support:

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. C.V. Jayasree, who offered words of encouragement to the candidates and underscored the significance of youth participation in democratic processes. Other faculty members were also present and provided their support to ensure the smooth conduct of the program and campaign activities.

Special Remarks:

A special address was delivered by Mr. Diljith P.E., who had recently been elected unanimously, marking a proud moment for SUM CTE. In his speech, he expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and assured that he would work diligently for the welfare of the students. He also urged fellow candidates and students to uphold democratic values and maintain a spirit of healthy competition.
