
Report on One-Day Workshop on Learning Aids

A one-day workshop on Learning Aids was jointly organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and SUMCTE on 8 June 2026. The workshop aimed to enhance the skills of student teachers in designing and using effective learning aids for classroom teaching and practice teaching sessions.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Raman P, former teacher of TIM Girls Higher Secondary School, Nadapuram, and a State Resource Person. The session was inaugurated by Dr. Rosa M.C., Principal, SUMCTE who emphasized the importance of innovative teaching materials in making learning more engaging and effective.
The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Divakaran P.E., Assistant Professor of Physical Science, who highlighted the relevance of learning aids in modern pedagogical practices. The resource person then led a series of interactive sessions demonstrating the preparation and effective use of various teaching-learning materials.
Students of SUMCTE actively and enthusiastically participated in the workshop. Under the guidance of the resource person, they designed and constructed several learning aids suitable for different subjects and classroom situations. These learning aids were found to be highly useful for their upcoming practice teaching programmes and helped develop their creativity, teaching skills, and confidence.
The workshop provided valuable hands-on experience and encouraged participants to integrate innovative teaching tools into their future classrooms. The session concluded in the evening with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Suneesh K., who expressed gratitude to the resource person, the Principal, faculty members, organizers, and all participants for making the programme a success.
The workshop was highly informative and beneficial, equipping student teachers with practical knowledge and skills for creating effective learning environments through the use of learning aids.
