Inauguration Report of Sneha Veedu by SUM College of Teacher Education and NSS Unit 100

Introduction

In a heartwarming initiative aimed at providing shelter and security to the underprivileged, SUM College of Teacher Education, in collaboration with its NSS Unit 100, proudly inaugurated ‘Sneha Veedu’ for Mrs. Ramlath at Muzhappala on 11th October 2025. This noble endeavor reflects the institution’s unwavering commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.


Inaugural Ceremony

The house was officially inaugurated by Dr. Shivadasan, Honourable Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his thoughtful and inspiring address, Dr. Shivadasan emphasized the fundamental importance of shelter as a basic human need and a foundation for dignity and well-being. He applauded the efforts of the college and NSS volunteers in realizing this dream for Ramlath and her family, and urged educational institutions across the country to take up similar initiatives that directly impact local communities.


Chair of the Function

The event was chaired by Dr. Jayasree C.V., Principal of SUM College of Teacher Education, who, in her address, highlighted the values of empathy, service, and education beyond classrooms. She congratulated the NSS Unit and student volunteers for their selfless dedication and hard work in bringing this project to fruition.
