Cancer Awareness Class Report
A Cancer Awareness Class was successfully conducted on 09/10/2025 at SUM College of Teacher Education, in collaboration with the Lions Club Chakkarakal and our NSS Unit 100. The session was held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with active participation from students, staff, and members of the Lions Club.
The event began with a warm welcome address by Ms. Preetha K.V., Secretary of the Lions Club, Chakkarakal. Mr. Jayarajan P., President of the Lions Club, presided over the session and delivered an introductory speech, highlighting the importance of cancer awareness and the objectives of the camp. Felicitations were offered by Mr. Sathyachandran, Vice President of the Lions Club, and Dr. Krishnakumar E.P., Principal-in-Charge of SUM College, who both appreciated the initiative and encouraged student participation in health-related awareness programs.
Mr. Sunnesh K., NSS Programme Officer, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all guests, organizers, and participants in his vote of thanks.
The highlight of the event was an insightful and engaging awareness session by Dr. Harsha Gangadharan, Medical Officer from Malabar Cancer Care Society (MCCS). She provided valuable information on cancer prevention, early detection, and lifestyle modifications, making the session both informative and impactful. Following this, Dr. Nilanjan R. Nath, a resource person from MCCS, also interacted with the students, addressing their questions and concerns related to cancer and health.
Students enthusiastically participated in the session and showed great interest by actively interacting with the medical professionals. The event concluded with the Lions Club team presenting a trophy of appreciation to the doctors from MCCS for their dedicated service and valuable contribution.
Overall, it was a wonderful and enlightening session, with excellent cooperation and engagement from our students. The program not only raised awareness about cancer but also instilled a sense of social responsibility among the participants
