Sum College of Teacher Education commemorated the International Day of Older Persons on October 1, 2024, with a heartwarming program titled “Marakkathirikkam Cherthu Nirtham” (Sing Together, Walk Together). The NSS unit and IQAC collaborated to organize this event, which involved visiting the homes of elderly residents in the vicinity of the college.

Students, teachers, and NSS volunteers were divided into groups to ensure effective outreach. They carried essential supplies and fresh fruits to distribute among the elderly individuals. Upon reaching the homes, the participants engaged in lively conversations, providing companionship and emotional support to the residents.

The program also included a dance performance by the students, which brought joy and cheer to the elderly individuals. This initiative highlighted the college’s commitment to social service and the importance of honouring and caring for the elderly members of the community. The “Marakkathirikkam Cherthu Nirtham” program was a testament to the compassion and empathy of the students and faculty involved.
